What is a primary care physician?

Primary Care Physicians (PCPs)  provide continuing, comprehensive health care for the individual and family.  They listen to your questions, assess symptoms, recommend treatment approaches, prescribe medication, and refer you to the proper specialist when needed.  A PCP takes a holistic approach which enables them to get recommendations from different specialists allowing you and your PCP to co-create a treatment plan enabling the best outcome for care.

Do you treat work injuries and no-fault insurance (car accident) injuries?

What is the difference between family medicine, internal medicine, and primary care physicians?

A family medicine doctor is a primary care physician who treats you and your family from a young age through to geriatric care.  He or she  functions as a pediatrician, an internal medicine doctor and a gynecologist (GYN) combined into one specialty. They care for both children and adults.

Why is it important to have a primary care physician?

Some of the most important reasons to have a primary care physician (PCP)  include:

  • A PCP provides comprehensive care, meaning they can manage and treat a wide variety of conditions, as well as provide preventive care.

  • A PCP gets to know you and your medical history allowing them to provide personalized care that’s tailored to your specific needs.  They can help you navigate the healthcare system and provide referrals to specialists.

  • If you are in overall good health, the recommendation is to see your PCP annually, which is typically fully covered by insurance
